Who we are
askusers.org (“askusers”, “we”) runs this site from Queensland, Australia. You can reach us at hello@askusers.org. By using the site, or by signing in, you agree to these terms.
Using askusers
askusers.org is a site where people review software they use. Reading and writing reviews is free, and you can read everything without an account. To write reviews, ask or answer questions, or manage a tool's profile, you sign in with an account you already have, such as Google. You must be 16 or older to sign in.
One account per person. Don't use someone else's account, create accounts to review the same tool more than once, or try to get around our checks or limits.
Don't copy the site in bulk with scripts. For reviews on your own site, use the reviews API.
What you post
You own what you write. By posting it, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to publish, display, store and share it on askusers and in places that link back to it, and to use it to produce summaries and answers, for as long as it is up. Only your first name and last initial are shown with it.
When you post, you promise that:
- it is your own honest experience, and you have used the tool
- you are not employed or paid by the vendor or a competitor, and nobody gave you anything for it
- it follows our content policy and the law
You can edit your reviews and answers at any time. To have something you posted taken down, email hello@askusers.org. Once we take it down, AI summaries drop it the next time they are written, and sites using the reviews API must remove it within a day.
Moderation
We check content automatically and with people, as described in the content policy. We may hide or remove content that breaks it, limit or close accounts that keep breaking it, and remove a vendor's access to a profile. When a moderator acts on something you posted, we email you why. Something our automatic check holds shows as held on your account, and editing it checks it again.
Vendors
If you manage a tool's profile, you confirm you are allowed to act for its vendor. You agree to the vendor rules in the content policy, including never offering anything for a review and never inviting only happy customers. You may only invite people who are your customers and whose email addresses you are allowed to use for this.
Tool facts and AI
Facts about tools come from their own websites and show when we last checked them. Prices and features change, so confirm them with the vendor before you buy. AI summaries and answers are written only from reviews, are labelled, and can be wrong. Nothing on askusers is professional advice.
Tool names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify the tools. Their listing here doesn't mean they endorse askusers, or that we endorse them. Links to tool websites go to sites we don't control.
Reviews API
If you manage a tool's profile, you can show its reviews on your own site with the reviews API. A key only reads the reviews of tools you manage. You agree to the rules on that page: show reviews as we return them, good and bad, unchanged, and linked back to askusers. We may revoke a key that breaks them. We may change, limit or stop the API at any time.
No guarantees
Reading and writing reviews on askusers is free, and the site is provided as it is and as available. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, complete, available or free of errors, and we don't guarantee any tool listed on it. Reviews, questions and answers are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours. We may change, suspend or stop any part of the site.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows:
- we are not liable for decisions you make, or tools you buy or use, based on what you read here
- we are not liable for what other people post, or for other websites, including the tools' own
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or business
- our total liability to you for anything to do with askusers is limited to 100 Australian dollars
Some laws, such as the Australian Consumer Law, give you rights that can't be excluded. These terms don't take them away. Where the law lets us limit our liability for breaking one of those rights, it is limited to supplying the service again.
If you break these terms or the law with what you post, or how you use askusers as a vendor or API user, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim, as far as the law allows.
Ending
You can stop using askusers at any time, and ask us to delete your account as the privacy policy describes. We may close an account that breaks these terms. The parts of these terms about content you posted, liability and the law that applies still apply after that.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and its courts can decide any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection your own country's consumer law gives you and can't be signed away.
